If you can’t tell from the photo, that’s a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda on the left and a 1971 Opel GT on the right. I recently bought one of the cars in this photo
. Guess which? And which do you think is more Jalop?
![]() 02/07/2020 at 15:47 |

I feel like the Opel GT is more jalop, but since it doesn't have wheels the Plymouth is more oppo

Ha probably true! It seems the most Oppo muscle car is 2nd- gen Firebird these days!
![]() 02/07/2020 at 15:51 |

I don't know about all that. But I'd take the Opel over the barracuda.

Well the biggest Opel GT parts place is in CA going out towards Yosemite. I almost bought one from that guy. They can get the Buick Rover aluminum V8 swap. Needs Conrero body enhancements.
![]() 02/07/2020 at 15:53 |

I bet you bought the Opel, I feel like classic Mopar is still crazy money for what you get. That shell is probably still like $10k.
![]() 02/07/2020 at 15:53 |

This whole photo is just screaming "ran when parked"
![]() 02/07/2020 at 15:54 |
|
I’d take the Plymouth but I’m going to guess you bought the Opel because you wanted a mini-me for your Corvette
![]() 02/07/2020 at 15:55 |
|
its the trailer in the back?
![]() 02/07/2020 at 15:56 |
|
Same, but mostly because it looks like it would take far less work to get it driving again. It already has wheels and door glass.
![]() 02/07/2020 at 15:56 |
|
I’m guessing you bought the mini-Cletus-Vette. I know you’ve mentioned loving those in the past.
![]() 02/07/2020 at 15:56 |
|
You bought both?
![]() 02/07/2020 at 15:58 |

You’re not far off on what he’s asking for the Barracuda shell. He has four 1970/71 E-Bodies sitting around.
![]() 02/07/2020 at 15:59 |

Opel has more rust than the Plymouth but has more parts to start out with. Plymouth has better aftermarket support but you also have to pay crazy Mopar prices for everything.
![]() 02/07/2020 at 16:01 |
|
There’s a lotta “ran when parked here” but thankfully not much “I know what I have”
![]() 02/07/2020 at 16:01 |
|
Moar rust = more jalop
![]() 02/07/2020 at 16:01 |

You are a smart human.
![]() 02/07/2020 at 16:02 |

I’ve wanted one for years.
![]() 02/07/2020 at 16:02 |

Trailer would have likely been the only SMART thing to buy from this lot but no.
![]() 02/07/2020 at 16:02 |

I wish!
![]() 02/07/2020 at 16:02 |

Well then get ready for the most Jalop Opel you’ve ever seen!
![]() 02/07/2020 at 16:07 |

AT LAST THE PROPHECY
(the GT because dwarf Cletus Vette)
![]() 02/07/2020 at 16:15 |
|
Yay you finally got one!
This is going to make a great pair with the Vette
![]() 02/07/2020 at 16:16 |

OPEL!!!
You’d mentioned getting one for a long time now! :D
Please tell me you got it? :D Any news of any R+C updates or such on the horizon? :)
![]() 02/07/2020 at 16:19 |
|
Haha yes I finally did it
![]() 02/07/2020 at 16:20 |
|
I did! Yeah I’ll finally have a matching set
![]() 02/07/2020 at 16:22 |

But if you’d bought the Cuda you could Hellcat all the things!

Yeah I have! I own an Opel now. This one will actually be built up on my new channel Classic Cars and Clayton. A link for the FB page of the channel is here:
https://www.facebook.com/ClassicCarsAndClayton/
I will be posting updates and videos about this car to the channel. I’ve also got lots of other fun car stuff planned this season!

I hope the barra cuda.
![]() 02/07/2020 at 16:25 |
|
Kevin hart tried that too.
![]() 02/07/2020 at 16:25 |

NICE! I have always wanted an Opel. Should be tons of fun. I see this one at local car shows (Southwest Missouri) pretty often. He stuffed a DOHC Ford Zetec engine in it and did a nice job of it.
![]() 02/07/2020 at 16:26 |
|
Wish I could afford it! I prefer the ‘71 ‘Cuda to the ‘70 version anyways
![]() 02/07/2020 at 16:31 |
|
I’d still go for the Opel, a bit of cutting and welding can fit a few different engines, and rust means there’s still metal there!
But I’m also too young to pine for the old Mopars, and I’m too cheap to pay their prices.
![]() 02/07/2020 at 16:39 |

Came here for this.
![]() 02/07/2020 at 16:50 |

Plus it has a decent chassis. Coil sprung live axle in back and transverse leaf and a-arms in front (double wishbone of sorts).
![]() 02/07/2020 at 16:54 |
|
That’s pretty cool! I love the sidepipe!
![]() 02/07/2020 at 17:23 |

Ooo, consider myself subscribed! Does this mean R+C is on the back burner for the time being?
Psyched for Opel goodness!
![]() 02/07/2020 at 17:58 |
|
Thanks! R+C is now for Alex and I’s buddy road trips and my channel is for my own builds, reviews etc.
![]() 02/07/2020 at 18:01 |
|
Ah, awesome! Is Reid going to have a separate channel too for Mustang updates, etc? :)
![]() 02/07/2020 at 18:06 |
|
I am guessing Opel.
![]() 02/07/2020 at 19:02 |
|
Not sure yet! I think he wants to do one mega-huge video for the Mach12 instead of multiple smaller videos but we shall see
![]() 02/07/2020 at 19:02 |
|
Your guess is correct!
![]() 02/07/2020 at 19:09 |
|
Coolness....super psyched for the Opel. Always loved the little things, but they were always a bit unloved on this side of the pond! :D
Planning to go Cletus-vette style and leave it sortof shabby, but mostly original, or going Reid-style and thinking engine swap, etc?
![]() 02/07/2020 at 20:48 |
|
You seem much more an opel guy (plus I know you’ve looked at them before)
How have things been? La
st we heard from you there was a lot going on with living arrangements, etc.
![]() 02/07/2020 at 22:04 |

Awww, baby Corvette!
But seriously, love me some Opel GT.
![]() 02/07/2020 at 23:06 |

Had one back in the 80's fun times!
![]() 02/07/2020 at 23:13 |

Nice. At one point in the early 70's when my mother was growing up the family garage consisted of a VW microbus that was the family truckster and an Ope l GT that my grandfather drove to work.
![]() 02/08/2020 at 08:34 |

Very cool! Let me know if you ever need any Opel parts sourced from Euroland :)
![]() 02/08/2020 at 11:53 |
|
Is the cuda for sale?
![]() 02/09/2020 at 16:22 |
|
It’s gonna be Cletus-vette style. Shabby but driving. Debating a rot ary swap but too early to tell.
![]() 02/09/2020 at 16:23 |
|
Yes I’ve wanted one for a long time! Thanks for asking, things have settled down and I’m getting back to working on some projects. It feels good!
![]() 02/09/2020 at 16:24 |
|
Me too! I like how they look. Like a cross between a C3 and a 240Z
![]() 02/09/2020 at 16:25 |
|
Wow cool! I think mine is the same color!
![]() 02/09/2020 at 17:02 |

Glad things settled down for you.
I found your new youtube and subscribed, looking forward to some antics!
![]() 02/09/2020 at 17:07 |

18 yr old me thought it was a fun $800 car. Had carpet glued to a destroyed dash when I bought it and stayed that way. Carpooled to high school with a friend. We took turns when his fiat 124 was broken or the opel was broken. Sparkomatic tape deck and 6x9s yo!

Antics incoming!
![]() 02/09/2020 at 21:57 |

Oo
o, that would be very cool! As awesome as rotaries are, they don’t seem the best for longevity or reliability though... :(
